Kelsey Duxstad Schmidt is the recipient of the first annual William C. and Margaret L. Parmer Scholarship. The Parmer Scholarship was created by Margaret Parmer, a Monroe resident, who saw a need to help students with the high cost of their education. The student must be accepted or enrolled in Medical School. Margaret’s husband, William, passed away in 2005 and this was something they had often talked about doing.

Kelsey Duxstad Schmidt is a 2009 graduate of Monroe High School and is enrolled at UW Madison in the medical school as a primary care physician, with a specialty in family medicine with an interest in public health and quality improvement. Kelsey returned from 2 months in Nepal – and is now working at the Monroe Clinic on a public health project pertaining to community care until school resumes again in August.

The William C. and Margaret L Parmer Scholarship Fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern WI. For further information, contact Linda Gebhardt, Donor Service representative 608-328-4060 or linda@cfsw.org
