Sheila Kelley, chair of the PHS Scholarship Fund advisory board, announced today that Steve’s Pizza Palace, Platteville, has joined the many other area businesses in providing a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded this year to a graduate of Platteville High School Class of 2014.

John Patakos and Katherine Zaimes are co-owners of Steve’s Pizza Palace.  In making the presentation, Patakos said, “We, at Steve’s Pizza, have always found knowledge to be of the utmost importance for the improvement of the ‘self.’  We know that when an individual travels outside of the United States and returns home, our community benefits in a profound way through the experiences that are shared.  Moving beyond our region brings fresh ideas and innovations to our area…new ways to see things or to do things.  Steve’s Pizza Palace, Inc. finds it very rewarding to make a difference in an individual’s life by providing them with the opportunity to explore and learn beyond this community and to return to make our special community of Platteville even better.”

The PHS Scholarship Fund is affiliated with the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, a tax exempt 501(c)(3) public charity.  The Fund’s mission is to expand access to higher education for the students of the Platteville School District.  The Fund fulfills this mission primarily by providing post-secondary education scholarships to Platteville graduates.  “LIKE” the PHS Scholarship Fund on Facebook to be abreast of additional ways to assist PHS students.
