Lancaster Community Fund Presents Charles “Sonny” Tiedemann Charitable Fund Grants

The Lancaster Community Fund advisory board welcomed representatives of 11 outstanding projects to its December 13 grant presentation event.  Grant applications were solicited starting in September with a November 1 deadline.  In total, 17 applications requesting over $81,000 were received and reviewed.

In announcing the recipients, advisory board chair David Helmke noted, “The monies for these grants are the result the tremendous gift made through the estate of Keith Tiedemann which established the Charles “Sonny” Tiedemann Charitable Endowment Fund.  Tonight we are pleased to present $19,950 in support of 11 projects within our community.  With tonight’s presentation we are privileged to have presented over $139,000 to 27 projects – all since the spring of 2015.”

Grants were presented as follows:

  • $5,000 to the Lancaster Community Band, through the City of Lancaster, for the purchase of percussion equipment;
  • $1,000 to Grant Regional Health Center for the purchase of 2 medical hip chairs;
  • $1,000 to the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce for the construction and installation of durable benches in the downtown;
  • $600 to the Lancaster Community Schools Physical Education Program to purchase projection and associated technology equipment;
  • $1,000 to the Lancaster Community School District in support of the Chris Herren School Assembly (C.A.S.H.);
  • $1,100 to the Lancaster Fire Department for the purchase of 2 portable radios;
  • $1,500 to the Lancaster Public Library Foundation for the purchase and installation of a podium, wireless projector and screen in the Community Room;
  • $1,750 to St Clement School to support the purchase of tablets for the K-3 program;
  • $1,000 to Winskill Elementary and Lancaster Middle School in support of a presentation by LeRoy Butler on bullying;
  • $1,000 to Winskill Elementary in support of the purchase of additional technology/iPads to ‘reach even more students;’
  • $5,000 to Wisconsin Badger Camp in support of the construction of an additional lodge (the 4th) at their camp facility.
