IGEF solicits grant applications twice each academic year. Specifically Excellence in Education grants are designed to support of projects or activities, not funded by tax dollars, that propose innovative and creative ideas that inspire both students and faculty to achieve educational excellence and/or provide ways to strengthen and support families so that education becomes an attainable, shared family endeavor.

Projects proposed in fall of 2017 that received grant funding include:
• Support for student participation in the fall Trees for Tomorrow program: $1,000, proposed by Tim Donovan
• Funding for a Kindergarten field trip to the Black Earth Children Museum with a stop at the Cobb Fire Station: $400, proposed by Sarah Fenstermann, Molly Leibfried, Heather Mayne, and Kristen Nelson
• Pi Day Celebration (3/14/2018) for high school math: $80, proposed by Carrie Hartnett
• A family focused, K through 6th grade math event – Imathimation: $800, proposed by Carolyn Laufenberg

In speaking of the grant program, IGEF board chair Paulette Divall noted, “We are always excited to receive and read the proposals of our IG faculty and staff. We have an extraordinary group of professionals who are very focused on helping our children to learn, grow and mature. We know that our grant-making is only possible because of the tremendous support of our IG community – near and far. IGEF was formed in 1999. As we approach our 20th anniversary, we want everyone to know that the gifts they have given are making a difference in our school and for our children. Thank you!”
