The Monroe Excellence in Education (EIE) Fund is proud to announce that First National Bank & Trust has reached $10,000 in contributions to the Fund through their five-year sponsorship of the annual Steak-n-Shake fundraiser.  The bank has been the event’s lead sponsor since 2008.

Proceeds from the Steak-n-Shake fundraisers are given back to the community by the EIE Fund in the form of grants.  These grants are used to enhance educational programs, extend educational opportunities, encourage innovation, and recognize the achievements of students and staff in the School District of Monroe.  Since its founding in 2000, the Monroe EIE Fund has awarded more than $80,000 in grants to the School District of Monroe.

This year’s Steak-n-Shake will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, at Flanagan’s Shenanigans in Monroe.  The event begins at 3:30 p.m. with appetizers and a concert by Madison Area Music Award winner Beth Kille.  Dinner is served at 5:00 p.m.   The dinner features a grilled New York strip steak, side dishes, dessert and a drink.  The event also features a silent auction that will include art and metal projects made by Monroe High School students and staff.  Tickets are $50 each and may be purchased from Cindy Rupnow at the School District of Monroe, (608) 328-7109 or e-mail at cindyrupnow@monroe.k12.wi.us.
