monticello-eie-logoSince its founding in 2006, the Monticello Excellence in Education Fund has awarded more than $30,000 to the School District of Monticello for educational programming outside of the boundaries of the district’s operating budget.

Featured Grant

monticello-eie-collage“Everyone Read!” is a project that resulted in the creation of a mural depicting students and community members reading in a variety of settings. The goal is to link local role models to reading so that students see that reading is enjoyed by everyone. The mural is displayed at the entrance to the elementary school. “Students, parents and community members look and comment on the pictures every day,” says Tara Murphy, project coordinator. “It conveys the warmth and friendly environment that makes Monticello what it is …a wonderful community to live in.”
