Monroe Excellence in Education

monroe-eie-logoSince its founding in 2000, the Monroe Excellence in Education Fund, combined with its Family of Funds, has awarded nearly $95,000 to the School District of Monroe.

Family of Funds

The following charitable funds have been established by individuals and organizations to support their charitable goals for the Monroe educational community:

  • Monroe High School Class of 1949 Education Fund
  • Monroe High School Class of 1977 Fund
  • Frederick C. and Helen R. Rehmstedt Northside Elementary EIE Endowment Fund
  • Tschudy Family Fund

Grants

Once per year the advisory board awards grants to the local school district for projects and/or programs that fall outside of the confines of the District’s operating budget. Grants are awarded at a ceremony in June.

Recent Grant Awards

In May 2014, the Monroe EIE Fund and its Family of Funds awarded more than $11,000 to the School District of Monroe for the following projects:

From the Monroe Excellence in Education Fund—

  • Sets of easy readers for Northside Kindergarten
  • Sets of readers for low-income 1st graders at the elementary schools
  • Vouchers for 483 students to purchase a book at the elementary schools’ Scholastic Book Fair
  • 3D printer for Project Lead the Way at Monroe Middle School
  • Two Vernier Lab Quest II interfaces for Monroe Middle School
  • Supplies for the integration of art and science at Monroe Middle School
  • Support for Courage Retreat for all 8th graders at Monroe Middle School
  • Wireless scoreboards for the Financial Literacy Challenge Bowl at Monroe High School
  • Funding for incorporation of bullying mentor program at Monroe High School

  • Books for a classroom library at Monroe Middle School

From the Monroe High School Class of 1977 Fund—

  • Mentoring program at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School
