CFSW Makes Janesville/Rock County Awards

The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin is pleased to announce annual grant awards totaling nearly $8,000 to seven Rock County nonprofit organizations.  The recipients are these:

  • Boys and Girls Club of Janesville for support of the “Be Nice” anti-bullying project.
  • City of Janesville for repair of storm windows at the Tallman House
  • Mercy Foundation, on behalf of Mercy Hospice Care, for a music therapy program for hospice patients
  • Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Club, Inc. in support of the 2014 Independence Day on the Rock event
  • Project 1649, Inc. to assist homeless youth with the incidental costs of pursuing employment and/or educational programs
  • CASA of Rock County for training volunteers who will advocate for abused or neglected children
  • Diversity Action Team of Rock County for costs related to a theatrical production to be performed in January 2014 during the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at Blackhawk Technical College

All awards are payable upon completion of the project.

The awards were made from five funds established by local donors:

  • the Community Enhancement Fund and the Bill & Marge Kersten Fund, which make awards in communities that do not have an operational community fund,
  • the Cabin Fund, which benefits specific local causes including hospice, animial care and experiential learning opportunities,
  • the Children’s First Fund, a field of interest fund for children and youth in Rock County,
  • the Mae Theisen Charitable Fund, which provides funding to several organizations that Ms. Theisen wanted to support.
