lancaster-logoKenneth Klaas, chair of the Lancaster Community Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Southwest Wisconsin, reports that 10 grants totaling $12,800 will be awarded at the July 18 “Night on the Square” festivities.

Presentations will be made on the northside of the Square at 7:00 p.m. to 10 groups including the Grant County Historical Society; Grant Regional Health Center; Lancaster Association of Churches Food Pantry; Lancaster Community Schools; Lancaster Police Department; Lancaster Public Library Foundation; Lancaster Veterans Memorial; Lancaster United Methodist Church Preschool; Night on the Square; and Southwest Opportunities Center.

The Lancaster Community Fund announced its spring grant cycle in early February. A total of 17 grant applications with requests totaling nearly $35,000 were received by the May 1 application deadline. The review process was completed by a special committee, chaired by LCF advisory board vice chair Tabitha Jackering and including two additional LCF advisory board members and two well-known and respected Lancaster citizens. In commenting on the selection process Jackering noted, “The review process was meticulous and comprehensive. We continue to focus our awards on applications that serve residents in the Lancaster School District. Our task was very difficult, considering the tremendous community need and the very well-written grant applications.”

The Lancaster Community Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc., is a tax-exempt public charity. It was established in 1999 and, with this year’s grants, will have distributed over $100,000 in the community. The Lancaster Community Fund’s growth and success depends on community members who share a commitment and are able to invest their resources in the Lancaster community to enhance art, education, health and human services, the environment and historic preservation. The LCF provides a means for individuals, organizations and businesses to support their unique charitable community interests “for GOOD. for EVER.”
