2012 Janesville EIE Awards
In February 2012, the Janesville EIE Fund made its first set of awards to the School District of Janesville. The District is receiving more than $6,000 for six projects at six schools:
- Edison Middle School for disc golf baskets to be used in construction of a disc golf course planned for the Edison school grounds in 2012-2013. Grant submitted by Mark Little, physical and health education teacher.
- Madison Elementary School for six iPads for small group use. Grant submitted by Christine Veium, academic learning coach.
- Parker High School for 14 novel sets by African-American authors for use in junior year American Literature course. Grant submitted by Sara Heiss, English teacher.
- Jefferson Elementary School for a projector and related equipment allowing for a wireless connection from the school’s existing iPads to an Apple TV. Grant submitted by Jeff Halverson, first grade teacher.
- Franklin Middle School for materials to build four roller coaster models in tech ed classes. Grant submitted by Kurt Larson, technology education teacher.
- Craig High School for calculators for School Within a School (SWS) program. SWS serves at-risk students in grades 9-12. Grant submitted by Domanic Wiegel, math and SWS teacher.

About
The Janesville Excellence in Education (EIE) Fund was established in 2010 with donations from local businesses, alumni, and supporters of the School District of Janesville. The Fund's mission is to enhance educational programs, extend educational opportunities, encourage innovation, and recognize the achievement of students and staff. The Fund is independent of the school district operating budget.
The Janesville EIE Fund is led by an advisory board composed of school leaders and community volunteers. The advisory board leads fundraising efforts and determines the annual grant awards.
To Donate
Donations to the Janesville EIE Fund are welcome at any time of the year. All gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Visit the Ways to Give section of this website for information on planning your gift, or you can make an online donation.
Grants
Once per year the advisory board awards grants to the local school district for projects and/or programs that fall outside of the confines of the District's operating budget.
Grant application deadline: October 22
